Ever wished you could know exactly who is visiting your website? - I mean, information like their name, where they work, their CV, you see where I'm going with this - basically, their LinkedIn profile.
I'll show you how with this sneaky little hack.
Step 1: Sign up for a LinkedIn Premium account to get the most value from this. You can get the free trial, and if you've exhausted that already, get the entry-level package.
Step 2: Go to your LinkedIn profile, right click and click view source code or (CTRL+U)
Step 3: CTRL/CMD F to search for "/profile/pdf?id". Your LinkedIn ID is no longer 8 digits. "id=98261032". Your LinkedIn ID now is 39 chars long. "id=ABCABCEZK38BfRNjU_ODiUuF1B8BmaCy9im-yeU". Keep the number.
PS: The id is the 39 char between "=" and "&locale". Highlighted in blue on the image below.
Step 4: Go to your website and add the following code within the <body> and </body> tags of the pages you wish to track visitors on:
<img src="https://www.linkedin.com/profile/view? authToken=zRgB&authType=name&id=XXXXX"/>
Replace XXXXX with the ID you got in step 4.
Step 5: After a few days, go back to your LinkedIn profile and view who has looked at your profile. You'll notice a bunch of people on there now, and that's because LinkedIn is
tracking everyone that visits your site and is still logged into their LinkedIn account as someone who has viewed your profile.
Step 6: Go through the list and start building individual relationships with your website visitors. Offer them value upfront i.e free month pass to your SaaS, free samples, e.t.c
